Paul E (Erik) Horsman (1952)

Author of Epic fantasy for Y.A. and Adult readers.

L
ives in Roosendaal, Netherlands.

I was born in Bussum, The Netherlands, in the year 1952. Yes, that's ancient history; I know, I was there.

After years in business, I ended up in 1995 in education. My school was specialized in Dutch language and integration courses for foreigners. Unhappily, due to changed legislation this beautiful work stopped in mid-2012 and per mid-2018 I am retired.

SF and Fantasy have fascinated me since my high school days. I read everything I could lay my hands on, but apart from some juvenile trash, I never seriously tried to write anything. All my creative urges were stilled by my forty years in Scouting.

I retired as a Scoutmaster in 2004 and suddenly I had spare time.  The first years of this freedom I filled with a nice little second-hand pc games business. (Gave it up in 2013, the crisis ate my customers).

It was 2007, when I took the first wobbly steps in what is now the fantasy Kingdom of Rhidauna. After several false starts and associated discouraged intervals, a spark began to grow and mid-2010, I had the first two parts of The Shadow of the Revenaunt more or less written.

I never felt at home with the darker books that are in fashion these days. With the Revenaunt, I had in mind something in the style of days gone by. A heroic tale with great protagonists and black villains, in which good always triumphs (at a price, that is.  No triumph is free).

My second series, The Shardheld Saga, is something else again. A gripping Vikingesque adventure in the snowy wastes of the Norden. As a reviewer so beautifully wrote: "This story is jam packed with verbal and visual treasures."

The third series, Wyrms of Pasandir, is both colorful and diverse, in a wonderful world where magic, age of sail, steam engines and wyrms meet in an epic battle against a fearful lich lord and his man-eating jinn minions from an alien continuum. The books are telling the battles of Eskandar, Wyrmcaller of Kalbakar and Defender of Bodrus the Sleeping God, and of Purser Shaw, the girl who sells his loot, and who dreams to become a rich and powerful High Merchant.

You'll find some samples of my books under the respective tabs on the left side. I hope you'll enjoy them.
